One little boy now has the freedom to play outside with some serious pedal power thanks to Egami Style.

Like any 3-year-old boy, Lyle loves his trucks, quad bike, splashing about in the pool, and bouncing as high as he can on the trampoline. However, at 18-months old he was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia which inhibits the use of his legs and slows muscular and physical development. On top of medical check ups and weekly therapy sessions, the everyday boisterous activities he loves are a challenge that he yearns to overcome. Lyle undertakes regular occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy sessions both privately and at The Centre for Cerebral Palsy to prepare his body for his big debut at kindergarten later this year.

As an energetic sports fanatic, Lyle loves watching tennis and soccer and was eagerly awaiting the opportunity to ride a bike with his friends. This wish has been granted by the generosity of image consultancy firm Egami Style through the purchase of Box Magazine subscriptions. With the funds raised by Egami Style’s subscriptions, and working together with The Centre for Cerebral Palsy and ToyBox International, Lyle now has his very own customised trike bike to scoot around on. This new piece of equipment means the world to Lyle and his family, as it allows him the freedom to play independently as well as build muscle tone and core strength. “Having his own trike bike will help Lyle keep mobile and active and give him the ability to ride on social outings with his family, and to school with his friends as he matures,” says Kathy Kane from The Centre for Cerebral Palsy. “Bike riding is not only an age appropriate activity that he can do to ride his bike to school with his friends, it also serves to help Lyle strengthen his leg muscles in a fun way so that he can ultimately walk more efficiently in his walking frame or even better independently.”

After trying three different bikes unsuccessfully, Lyle’s mum Tiana is thrilled that her energetic little boy is grinning from ear to ear thanks to the support of Egami Style, The Centre for Cerebral Palsy and ToyBox International. As he loves playing outdoors with his younger brother Max, Lyle’s new trike fills him with the confidence to mix with other children and overcome the pain of regular Botox injections and medical appointments. “All of the other bikes just weren’t right because since he uses his whole body to pedal, his feet kept slipping and dragging, but his new bike is sturdy and has a bucket seat which suits his needs perfectly so he can now go and join the other kids playing in the street,” Tiana explains. Managing Director of Egami Style Natasha Di Ciano is pleased that this special gift has brought insurmountable amounts of joy to Lyle and his family, “One of Egami Style’s main objectives is to promote confidence and we could not have been happier to help Lyle build his confidence and give him the opportunity to experience a sense of achievement and independence when riding his new trike,” she says.
